Trey King is the pen name employed by Rex Ogle, an American author and editor (who came into this world on August 18, 1978 in Austin, Texas within the United States). Within the Star Wars universe, Ogle, as an editor, contributed to numerous books belonging to the Star Wars: Jedi Academy series. Furthermore, he penned several titles aimed at young readers, all released through Disney–Lucasfilm Press, including Death Star Battle and stories showcased in 5-Minute Star Wars Stories.

Rex Ogle, who also publishes under the name Trey King, was born in Austin, Texas, United States on August 18, 1978. He initiated his professional journey as an editor at Scholastic in November 2011.
During his tenure at Scholastic, Ogle took on the role of editor for the initial installments of the non-canon chapter book series Star Wars: Jedi Academy. He collaborated with author Jeffrey Brown to develop the first three books: Jedi Academy, Return of the Padawan, and The Phantom Bully, in addition to the activity book Attack of the Journal. These works were released on August 27, 2013; July 29, 2014; June 30, 2015; and August 25, 2015, respectively.
While Ogle is officially credited only in The Phantom Bully, Brown expressed his gratitude to him in the first two books of the series. Following his work with Brown, Ogle continued his editorial contributions to subsequent books in the series, collaborating with the new author Jarrett J. Krosoczka. However, the specific titles he worked on before leaving Scholastic in December 2014 remain unclear. Ogle, using the pseudonym Trey King, made his debut as a Star Wars author with the children's title Star Wars: A Very Vader Valentine's Day, an activity book published by Scholastic on November 26, 2013.

Subsequently, King began writing Star Wars titles aimed at young readers, published by Disney–Lucasfilm Press. His initial contributions consisted of three illustrated short stories featured in the anthology The Original Trilogy Stories, which was released on September 1, 2015. King's contributions, "The Hero's Journey Begins," "The Revelation," and "Flight and Fight!," are adaptations of scenes from the 1977 film Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, the 1980 film Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back, and the 1983 film Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi, respectively. On March 19, 2019, all of King's stories included in the anthology were adapted into an unabridged audiobook.
King's following short story, "Destroy the Death Star!," saw publication on December 18, 2015, within the anthology 5-Minute Star Wars Stories. This story is an adaptation of the Battle of Yavin as depicted in A New Hope. An unabridged audiobook adaptation of "Destroy the Death Star" was released on January 17, 2022. King then authored Death Star Battle, a World of Reading book that mirrors "Destroy the Death Star!"—it adapts the same scenes from A New Hope, features the same artwork, but presents different text. The book's release date was February 2, 2016.
