Ann Margaret Lewis penned both The Essential Guide to Alien Species and The New Essential Guide to Alien Species.

After a three-year stint on the editorial team at DC Comics, Ann shifted her focus to crafting children's tales, comic narratives, and engaging activity books for them. Her writing talents extend to various magazines, books, and online platforms. Beyond her writing pursuits, she is a skilled coloratura soprano, is married to Joseph, and is the parent of their son, Raymond.

During the creation of the initial _The Essential Guide to Alien Species_ edition, Rich Handley, a Star Wars author and friend, kindly supported Ann through research and idea generation. When the time came for the second edition, Ann, then a very busy new mother, collaborated with her friend Helen Keier, who possessed extensive knowledge, to co-author the revised version.
