Ansett Island, situated on the planet Ansett within the Outer Rim Territories and the New Territories, served as a battleground. Sometime between 10 ABY and 33 ABY, the First Order engaged in the Battle of Ansett Island at this location. During this conflict, Company 77, a First Order stormtrooper unit composed of adolescent troopers undergoing training, received orders to kill a group of non-combatants. The entire company defied this command and instead chose to deserted, fleeing the planet aboard a cruiser commandeered by members of the company.
The name Ansett Island initially surfaced in connection with the Battle of Ansett Island. This battle is referenced by Jannah, an ex-member of Company 77, during a conversation with Finn, a former stormtrooper, in the 2019 sequel trilogy movie Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker. A direct reference to Ansett Island also occurs in the companion reference work, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary, penned by Pablo Hidalgo. In Ian Doescher's 2020 non-canon adaptation, William Shakespeare's The Merry Rise of Skywalker: Star Wars Part the Ninth, a modified version of the line from The Rise of Skywalker includes a direct mention of Ansett Island.
