Biography

Pablo Hidalgo is recognized for his creation of various materials, spanning from resources for the West End Games role-playing game (RPG) to content for StarWars.com, where he used the online name Pabawan. He also helped establish the Star Wars Fanboy Association. He held the position of Internet Content Manager for Lucas Online until 2011, and he also contributed as a comics writer for StarWars.com. Until January 2000, Hidalgo both wrote and oversaw the Star Wars Index at echostation.com; he left that project to begin working for Lucasfilm. The site featured some of his own original Star Wars artwork.

He made a cameo appearance in Revenge of the Sith as Janu Godalhi (an anagram derived from the name of Pablo's father, Juan Hidalgo), and he was also referenced through the character Palob Godalhi. Following The Walt Disney Company's acquisition of Lucasfilm, Hidalgo was given a role in the newly created Lucasfilm Story Group, a specialized team of Star Wars experts whose primary function involves establishing and maintaining a unified canon, which effectively replaced the previous, tiered canon system. Hidalgo also served as a creative executive in story development at Lucasfilm, and he was a member of the Intellectual Property Development Group. He is well known for writing reference books that are released alongside new movies.

Hidalgo was the Star Wars lore advisor for the television series Obi-Wan Kenobi. During the writing phase, Joby Harold, a writer, considered having Obi-Wan Kenobi discover that Anakin Skywalker had survived their duel on Mustafar to build intense drama for Kenobi in the series. Harold first consulted Hidalgo to find out how much Kenobi knew during the show's timeline, and he was given permission to include the scene. Hidalgo was a great resource for propmaster Brad Elliott and his team. Hidalgo and Elliott discussed the appearance of wupiupi coins and their correct exchange rate with truguts and credits. This allowed them to determine the cost of certain common items in Star Wars and a minimum wage for the whale-carving station where Obi-Wan Kenobi was employed. They decided that a full shift would pay one trugut and three wupiupi.
