A device affixed to vehicles, called an anti-gravity unit, served the purpose of moving substantial loads of cargo. These units were standard on Anti-grav loaders. Functionally, the unit would emit a beam that neutralized the effects of gravity on the cargo, effectively rendering it weightless, before maneuvering it to its intended location. In at least one instance, it was shown to have a defensive capability; Kirk Windjammer once employed his anti-grav unit to redirect an approaching photon missile.
