Antimissile octet

The antimissile octet served as a rapid-firing, quick-tracking weapon designed to intercept missiles. Once activated, it would calculate the trajectory of any approaching missiles and initiate firing along that projected route. Its purpose was to saturate the missile's path with a substantial volume of metallic fragments, aiming to trigger its premature explosion before it could hit its intended target. These defensive systems were integrated into certain vessels of the New Republic's New Class Modernization Program, most prominently the Majestic-class heavy cruiser and the Warrior-class gunship, and saw action in events such as the Battle of ILC-905.
