The Arah mining facility functioned as an Imperial mine for oridium ore, situated within the Belt of Arah. Its primary function involved extracting and refining oridium ore, which was then utilized as fuel for the TIE Phantom initiative.

This mining operation was constructed on one of the larger asteroids present in the Arah belt. A broad, uneven platform encircled the asteroid's midsection, incorporating a network of pipes and tunnels, presumably for the purpose of processing and transporting the extracted resources away from the installation.
Three shielded access shafts linked these peripheral tunnels to the central mining area.
The asteroid's interior was excavated to create a large open space, accessed by substantial escalators or "rock scrapers". The bulkheads supporting the reactor and escalators were equipped with numerous automated turrets designed to eliminate falling rock, thereby preventing damage to the facility's structural integrity.
Located on the asteroid's northernmost point, alongside a maintenance tunnel providing access to the core, was a section of the mining complex likely dedicated to fuel storage and living quarters for the personnel.

The covert establishment of this mine occurred sometime before 3 ABY. A pilot operating a YT-1300 freighter became aware of the mine's presence and attempted to relay this information to the Rebel Alliance. However, his proximity to Dreighton during the communication attempt drew the attention of the Imperial forces stationed there. They intercepted the Corellia Star using TIE fighters, eventually boarding the vessel and eliminating all personnel on board.
Rookie One successfully recovered the damaged freighter from the Imperial base. With a complete recording of the message, the Alliance resolved to attack the facility, forming the ad-hoc Rascal Squadron. The facility and its defending TIE/IN interceptor units were subsequently destroyed, effectively ending Imperial operations within the Belt of Arah.
