A refugee camp existed on the planet Arkinnea, originating circa 19 BBY. It provided shelter to those uprooted and made homeless as a result of the Clone Wars. The Arkinnea Militia oversaw the camp, but they harbored animosity towards the refugees because of wartime occurrences. The Galactic Empire monitored the militia's actions. Jedi younglings, under the guidance of Jedi Masters like K'Kruhk, were stationed in section two-four-one of this camp. Ultimately, the Arkinnea Militia murdered all the refugees in the camp, excluding the Jedi who were forewarned by Jedi Master Zao; the refugees were killed by being thrown from the opening of a ore carrier.
The comic Star Wars: Dark Times, specifically its twenty-third issue titled Dark Times—Fire Carrier 1, featured the Arkinnea refugee camp for the first time. This issue was released on February 6, 2013.
