Artom

Artom, a planet, resided within the Reidi Artom I system. This system was situated within the Nuon e Safyd sector, which itself was located in the Slice region of the Expansion Region. The Galactic Republic scout Reidi Artom discovered Artom first. She had been sent to the Expansion Region to scout for any star systems that may have been missed. By 232 BBY, Reidi Artom discovered the planet Artom. She was known for naming the systems she discovered after herself, or variations of her name, rather than following the galactic standard of naming a system after its star or central planet. Though the Reidi Artom I system's discovery was not particularly lucrative for Artom, the planet she found there retained her name over 200 years later. This was unlike most of her other discoveries, which eventually reverted to ancient or local names.

Behind the scenes

The 2001 Living Force Campaign Guide, a sourcebook for the Star Wars Roleplaying Game by Wizards of the Coast, mentioned Artom. Robert Wiese and Andy Collins were the authors. The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas initially placed the Artom system, and thus the planet Artom, in grid square J-15. However, the StarWars.com Online Companion to that book later changed the placement to grid square P-12, which is closer to the Cularin system's square P-14; the Cularin system was another system explored by Reidi Artom.
