The so-called assassination attempt on Baroness Omnino was, in reality, a staged event perpetrated by Baroness Omnino herself. Her motive was to garner support from the Galactic Senate amidst her ongoing dispute with the Vena Isolationists, and simultaneously tarnish the reputation of the Jedi Order. Using mind-control, the Baroness manipulated a Senate Guard into attacking her; however, instead of harming Omnino, the guard fatally wounded her bodyguard. This was due to the intervention of Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn, who was present undercover as a Senate Guard.
