The Assimilators, formidable cyborg combatants, originated from the inventive minds of the Arkanians.
Assimilators, known for their mercilessness and aggression, were constructed using unique biological and mechanical components. They represented a complex integration of organic and technological elements while retaining full sentience and individual personalities. A crucial aspect of their design was the capacity for self-repair, enabling them to reconstruct damaged sections and incorporate both mechanical and organic materials into their structure. This allowed an Assimilator to potentially achieve centuries of existence by continuously replacing its own parts, even including the brain.
Eliminating an Assimilator permanently was an incredibly difficult task. Their regenerative abilities allowed them to recover from even the most severe wounds. As long as a substantial portion remained, they could reform themselves, although this process could be lengthy. Consequently, the only definitive method to destroy an Assimilator was believed to be complete atomization into its fundamental elements.
The Arkanian Renegades conceived the Assimilators as a component of their strategy to depose the government of Arkania, known as the Arkanian Dominion. These beings were intended as potent, living weapons and soldiers. In response, the techno-lords of the Dominion engineered Accelerated Transgenic Heuristic Abhorers. Following the joint suppression of the Renegades by the Arkanian Dominion and the Republic, numerous Assimilators managed to flee into the broader galaxy.
Perhaps the most well-known Assimilator was Gorm the Dissolver, who went on to work as a bounty hunter. He survived several confrontations with Jedi and even managed to repair himself after Greedo shot him in the back of the head.
