Following closely on the heels of the First Battle of Geonosis, two Confederate gunships launched a surprise ambush on a Galactic Republic troop transport, resulting in its crash landing and the subsequent death or injury of most of the clone troopers aboard. Separatist battle droids then chased after the wrecked vehicle, proceeding to eliminate the injured troopers, which motivated one of the surviving soldiers, Cut Lawquane, to escape the combat zone and abandon his commitment to the Grand Army of the Republic.
