An Audiobulb was a trademarked brand of device designed to play back recorded music. Its power source was a battery that was extremely flammable.
In the final years of the Galactic Republic, the Audiobulb was regarded as a scarce and old-fashioned item. Due to the device's flammable battery, production had ceased by the time the Clone Wars began. The music player had a tendency to explode if it malfunctioned.
Groodo the Hutt possessed an old Audiobulb. Jango Fett, a bounty hunter, infiltrated Groodo's lavish palace-fortress located outside Calamar, the capital city of Esseles. Groodo's son, Boonda, almost destroyed his father's Audiobulb when Fett suddenly appeared from a second-story window to introduce himself to Senator Rodd, the criminal-politician Fett was pursuing for Darth Tyranus. Boonda was startled by the sudden appearance, but the Senator was terrified. Immediately after, Fett was forced to fight one of Groodo's Razor Eater droids.
Fett swiftly grabbed the Hutt's antique Audiobulb and hurled it at the droid's head. The Razor Eater, named Sparky, was apparently unaware of the antique's flammable nature, so it opened its jaws and caught the Audiobulb in its mouth. This was the last thing the assassin droid ever caught. As the Razor Eater chomped down on the music player, Fett closed his eyes, resulting in a bright explosion of light and sound. Only the lower jaw of the droid's head remained. The droid's knee joints gave way, and its body fell to the ground.
Following the destruction of Sparky and the Audiobulb, Senator Rodd was captured by Jango Fett.
