Aulus G'luun existed as a male Gand on the world of Coruscant. He believed that Gands were treated unfairly by discriminatory laws and had limited chances. Ultimately, he began working for Lars Baddeg, who headed the Justicars. In this role, G'luun and his team of Gand scavengers were responsible for preventing the Noetikon from falling into the possession of the Jedi. G'luun developed an intricate network of computerized signals to notify his Gand associates when to transfer the Jedi artifact to the next person.
Following the sighting of a Gand carrying the artifact by Republic law enforcement, the Guild was sealed off to stop the Gands from fleeing, and a member of G'luun's team was apprehended. Using the intel from the captured Gand, a Jedi Consular triggered the signal device at the Old Galactic Market, drawing G'luun there. G'luun was informed that if he surrendered the Noetikon, the blockade would be lifted, and he and the other Gands would be allowed to depart Coruscant. G'luun followed these instructions.
