Averill, a planet dedicated to mining and located within the Averill system, existed as a world under the Legends banner. It was on this planet that the Galactic Empire unearthed a substantial deposit of quadrenium deep under the surface, a resource essential for building starship. The indigenous Humans were initially organized into independent mine-clans, each residing in their ancestral mineholds. Once the Empire took control of all mining activities, a tragic, yet avoidable, accident in the mines left Selby Jarrad's father severely disabled. Following the failure of Selby and her cousin to establish an effective resistance group on Averill, Selby made the decision to enlist in New Republic Intelligence.
