Banner Sumptor was an enlisted man in the Imperial military. He conspired with fellow soldiers Chala Venan, Chik Apla, Iry Danta, Anlys Takkar, and Moff Derran Takkar to disrupt the marriage ceremony between Luke Skywalker and Mara Jade. Despite the plan, Sumptor questioned the mission's purpose, and in a cantina fight, he intervened to protect Skywalker. Subsequently, Anlys Takkar commanded him to assassinate Jari'kyn, the one creating Mara Jade's wedding dress. Unable to carry out the order, he turned against his comrades, eliminating a pair of hired guns and assisting Jari'kyn in overcoming Takkar.
