Battle at Jabiim

A significant conflict at Jabiim, occurring during the period of the Galactic Civil War, marked one of the final engagements in the pursuit of Moff Kalast. This Imperial defector had provided the Rebel Alliance with crucial datacodes pertaining to the Galactic Empire's formidable superweapon, known as the Death Star I.

Historical Account

Preliminary Events

Darth Vader systematically collected intelligence across the galaxy to pinpoint the Moff's location. During a failed Rebel raid targeting Carida, which coincided with Colonel Maximilian Veers's demonstration of the novel All Terrain Armored Transport, the substantial size of the Rebel contingent led both Vader and Veers to deduce that Jabiim was the only world capable of supporting such an assault on Carida. Consequently, Vader assembled a combat force and set course for the designated planet.

Orbital Engagement

The Rebel forces had anticipated an attack and had established a robust defense, including an Alliance Space Station and a defensive fleet positioned in orbit around Jabiim.

The opposing fleets commenced exchanging weapon fire. Ultimately, the Alliance Space Station succumbed to the concentrated Imperial firepower emanating from Star Destroyers. The surviving Rebel units regrouped and initiated a final, desperate assault against the Imperial Navy, which proved unsuccessful. With the orbital defenses neutralized, the Imperial strike team proceeded to land on the planet's surface.

Terrestrial Combat

AT-ATs attacking the rebel base.

The Imperial forces swiftly discovered that the indigenous Jabiimi population were actively supporting the Rebel Alliance. Upon landing in a small clearing near the local village, the Imperials were immediately met with hostile fire. Artillery bombardments obliterated the village's homesteads, and the Imperial army advanced further. The Rebels' airspeeders were hampered by the planet's atmospheric conditions, granting the Imperials an advantage with their AT-ATs, which proved more resilient. However, the 2-M Saber-class repulsor tanks and 74-Z speeder bikes faced similar limitations.

Stormtroopers engaged the Rebel infantry forces while the larger armored vehicles breached the base's protective shield. AT-ATs directed their firepower at the base's shield generator, rendering the outpost vulnerable to aerial bombardment. TIE/sa bombers then conducted a devastating aerial assault on the base.

The Imperial forces meticulously searched the remaining facilities for any information pertaining to the whereabouts of Kalast. They uncovered intelligence indicating that Kalast's estate was located on Atzerri, and that he was currently stationed there.

Subsequent Events

Darth Vader acted without delay, redeploying his forces to Atzerri. The Galactic Empire had finally acquired the information it had been seeking for months.
