Battle of Bandomeer

The clash known as the Battle of Bandomeer transpired in 19 BBY between the forces of the Galactic Empire and the Ionite mining population of the world Bandomeer.

History

Roughly four months following the Declaration of a New Order, the ionite miners residing on Bandomeer chose not to uphold their previously agreed-upon Republic contracts with the now-formed Galactic Empire. Emperor Palpatine, seeking to instill respect for his new regime, tasked his apprentice, Darth Vader, with suppressing the local resistance movement.

The Imperial Army swiftly defeated the poorly equipped miners and secured control of the planet. However, despite the mission's success, Darth Vader remained uncertain if the Emperor's true motive for sending him to Bandomeer was simply to remove him from other matters, as he felt he should instead be pursuing Jedi such as Dass Jennir. His suspicions were later confirmed when he encountered Commander Vill on a cliff edge overlooking the battle site. Vill delivered a report on the successful battle and the minimal losses sustained by the Imperials. Vader then questioned Vill about the existence of a Contingency Order pertaining to Vader's assassination, similar to those that had existed for the Jedi Order. Vill's hesitation in responding prompted Vader to use the Force push to hurl the clone stormtrooper off the cliff, resulting in his death. Vader then fabricated a story for a passing clone stormtrooper, claiming that Vill had merely fallen.
