The Battle of Dantooine transpired in 22 BBY during the era of the Clone Wars. A segment of this conflict unfolded on the verdant plains of Dantooine, where a limited contingent of the Grand Army of the Republic faced off against a substantial force of battle droids. Subsequently, another portion of the battle occurred concurrently with the Second Battle of Geonosis.
The Dantooine conflict commenced directly preceding the Battle of Muunilinst. During that engagement, the Confederacy of Independent Systems utilized Dantooine as a launchpad for an assault targeting the assault ship blockade encircling the headquarters of the InterGalactic Banking Clan. However, Jedi Master Mace Windu became aware of the Separatist presence on Dantooine and departed with a company of clone troopers to impede the Separatist advance.
Count Dooku also had the intention of discovering Rakatan relics on the planet.
A further objective for Mace Windu on Dantooine involved locating and capturing Zeta Magnus, a deranged genetic terrorist. Zeta had perpetrated numerous acts of murder and terrorism throughout the galaxy while aligned with the Separatists. He ran a GeNode cloning operation somewhere on the planet, which persistently evaded Master Windu's grasp.

The battle ignited on Dantooine as clones engaged with B2 super battle droids across a sprawling, open terrain. Clones employed PLX-1 portable missile launcher to obliterate numerous droids, while the droids retaliated with their own missile launchers, decimating gunships and inflicting substantial casualties upon the clone ranks with their overwhelming numbers. Nevertheless, with Master Windu leading them, the clones gradually gained an advantage, despite being outnumbered almost four to one by the Confederate super battle droids. However, the battle's dynamic shifted dramatically with the arrival of a formidable siege weapon—the seismic tank.

This tank, utilizing its seismic driver—originally intended for peaceful mining activities—carved a destructive path through the clone trooper lines, either crushing them directly or launching them into the air with the force of the shockwave, while also harming some of their own units. Amidst the chaos, Windu lost possession of his lightsaber, compelling him to engage a multitude of droids unarmed. The prowess he displayed with the Force during that battle has since become legendary: Throughout the conflict, he evaded and destroyed droids using various Force techniques such as Force push, Force speed, Force punch and Force Wave, a technique so potent that it disabled droids within a 50-meter radius. At one juncture, Windu dismantled a super battle droid and repurposed its components to annihilate the remaining droids.
After retrieving his lightsaber amidst another seismic shockwave, Windu propelled himself towards the seismic tank. He breached the tank, disabled the seismic driver, eliminated the tank's droid crew by ejecting them through the window, and incapacitated the controls. Evacuating the tank, Windu observed as it crashed into the ground and detonated. Following his landing, a small boy offered him a bottle of water. Victory had been achieved.
During the battle, a droid task force was deployed to assault a farm managed by former Jedi students. The former Jedi, utilizing their Force abilities and banthas, successfully repelled their attackers, despite being sparsely armed. Subsequently, they evacuated the planet aboard their airship, resolving to travel to Coruscant.
In a subsequent phase of the battle occurring approximately simultaneously with the Second Battle of Geonosis, Windu's surviving forces required medical provisions, prompting Jedi Padawans Barriss Offee and Ahsoka Tano to commandeer a medical frigate to procure the supplies from a medical station situated near Ord Cestus. However, their vessel was overrun by a swarm of Geonosian brain worms before they could complete the supply mission.
The Battle of Dantooine was conceived for the Star Wars: Clone Wars series of micro-episodes. It later received a mention in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars episode "Brain Invaders."
