Kashyyyk Trade Rebellion
The Kashyyyk Trade Rebellion unfolded during the Separatist Crisis, a period when numerous planets and commercial entities initiated their departure from the Galactic Republic. This conflict ignited when the Wookiee Trade Guild, a powerful organization overseeing substantial commerce within the Kashyyyk system, mounted resistance against freshly imposed taxes by the Trade Federation. Consequently, Darth Sidious, a Sith Lord and ally of the Federation, issued an order for a contingent of the Federation's droid army, featuring the newly introduced B2 super battle droids, to obliterate the Wookiee Trade Guild. Under the command of Count Dooku, Sidious's apprentice, the battle droid forces launched an assault on the Trade Guild's island headquarters situated within the Wawaatt Archipelago on Kashyyyk. While the Trade Guild's private army endeavored to defend the island, the Federation's superior firepower ultimately led to the complete annihilation of the village.
Prelude
Amidst the Separatist Crisis, a period characterized by the secession of various planets and corporations from the Republic, the Trade Federation—a corporation itself contemplating departure—sought to implement a series of new levies upon the Wookiee Trade Guild. The Trade Guild, wielding considerable commercial influence within the Kashyyyk system, vehemently opposed these proposed taxes, a stance that greatly displeased the Trade Federation.
In response, Darth Sidious, a Sith Lord and staunch ally of the Federation, commanded the deployment of a two-hundred unit strong legion from the Federation's battle droid army to the Trade Guild's headquarters on the Wookiee homeworld of Kashyyyk. This droid legion, under the leadership of Count Dooku, Sidious's newly appointed apprentice, comprised assault battle droids, battle droid assassins, pilot droids, droidekas, and the advanced B2 super battle droids. Their mission: the complete and utter destruction of the Guild's small island base nestled within Kashyyyk's Wawaatt Archipelago.
The battle
Upon landing on the island, the Federation legion immediately initiated an assault on the Guild's headquarters, spearheaded by Dooku himself. Two-hundred Wookiee warriors, comprising the Guild's private army and armed with bowcasters and missile launchers, valiantly attempted to defend their village against the onslaught. However, the Federation forces executed a flanking maneuver, attacking from the hills on the northeast and northwest flanks of the island, as well as from a minor landing zone situated on the south side. The droid army also deployed at least two Vulture-class droid starfighters to bombard the village with strafing runs. Ultimately, the Guild's army was overwhelmed, and the entire village was reduced to rubble by Dooku and his relentless forces.
Aftermath
The Federation left scarcely any Guild members alive, effectively dismantling the Wookiee Trade Guild. Years following the battle, the Federation and its allies coalesced to form the Confederacy of Independent Systems, led by Count Dooku. This new entity formally seceded from the Republic, precipitating the Clone Wars, a large scale conflict between the two factions.
Behind the scenes
This battle made its sole appearance within the video game Star Wars: Battlefront, serving as the third level within the game's historical Clone Wars campaign. This is despite the fact that the battle actually predates the Clone Wars. In this level, the player assumes the role of a soldier within the Federation army, assisting in the destruction of the Wookiee Trade Guild.
