The Battle of Ord Cantrell represented a significant military conflict during the Imperial Civil War. It pitted the Crimson Empire, under the leadership of the self-proclaimed Emperor Xandel Carivus, against the combined forces of Baron Ragez D'Asta's private fleet and the supporting elements of the New Republic.
Due to the widespread deployment of the Imperial Starfleet throughout the galaxy in pursuit of Kir Kanos, Ord Cantrell was left with inadequate defenses, making it susceptible to an assault by Baron D'Asta's substantial private fleet.
The Imperial loyalist forces suffered a decisive defeat in the space battle, with the loss of at least one Imperial-class Star Destroyer. Subsequently, D'Asta's fighters commenced strafing runs on Carivus's estate.
Facing imminent defeat, Carivus proposed the release of Feena D'Asta. Although the Baron was hesitant to halt the attack with victory within reach, his daughter's well-being took precedence over his personal pride, leading him to accept the ceasefire.
While aboard his Marauder-class corvette, D'Asta received information from Kir Kanos regarding Carivus's involvement in the death of Palpatine. Accompanied by New Republic agents Mirith Sinn and Tav Kennede, the two men proceeded to the would-be Emperor's estate with the intention of exacting revenge.
Although Carivus's Guards managed to wound Kennede, they were unable to prevent Kanos from executing the treacherous "Emperor." Following the battle, Sinn's attempts to persuade D'Asta to align with the New Republic were unsuccessful, and he opted to maintain the independence of his sector for the foreseeable future.
