Battle of Orinda

The Battle of Orinda took place late in the Galactic Civil War, approximately eight years following the Battle of Endor and a mere seven months after Admiral Daala's resignation.

Background

After the Imperial Starfleet, spearheaded by the Executor-class Star Dreadnought named Reaper, under the leadership of Fleet Admiral Gilad Pellaeon, successfully seized several planets belonging to the New Republic during the Orinda campaign, the New Republic launched a counter-offensive at Orinda, a planet that had been captured by the Imperial Remnant just a month prior.

A fleet commanded by General Wedge Antilles, with his flagship being the Executor-class Star Dreadnought Lusankya, was sent to Orinda to confront Pellaeon's fleet.

The battle

The Battle of Orinda stands out as one of the rare instances where Executor-class Star Dreadnoughts engaged in combat against each other.

The tide of the battle shifted in favor of the Remnant with the arrival of another Star Dreadnought, the Dominion, under the command of Admiral Teren Rogriss, accompanied by six Immobilizer 418 cruisers. Together with the Reaper, they swiftly annihilated the New Republic fleet carrier Endurance, destroying all starfighters onboard, after its captain had kept the starfighters in reserve for as long as he could. Antilles was on the verge of ordering the abandonment of ship when his own fighters managed to create a breach in the Interdictor screen, enabling the Lusankya to retreat under intense enemy fire. No further attempts were made to reclaim Orinda from the Remnant.

Aftermath

Following the victory, Orinda served as the temporary headquarters for Admiral Gilad Pellaeon. The New Republic opted to concede Orinda to Imperial control and instead concentrated on reinforcing the surrounding systems. The Battle of Orinda marked one of the final Imperial triumphs over the New Republic.
