The Battle of Roche happened within the timeframe of the Galactic Civil War. Following the Battle of Yavin by several months, Commander Ackbar of the Rebel Alliance, along with Verpine technical experts, were engaged in a collaborative effort within the Roche asteroid field. Their objective was the creation of the novel B-wing starfighter. Nevertheless, after discovering the project's imminent finalization, Imperial District Commander Bane Nothos established a blockade of the Roche system and launched an assault on the Research Station Shantipole with the intention of seizing the advanced models.
