The naval clash known as the Battle of Salvara unfolded at the location of Salvara during the period of the Clone Wars. This battle was one component of the broader series of engagements known as the Tenuutta Skirmishes, and involved naval forces.
A series of armed conflicts, collectively referred to as the Tenuutta Skirmishes, transpired during the time of the Clone Wars. The Battle of Salvara was a constituent part of these Tenuutta Skirmishes.
The forces of the Galactic Republic, under the command of Admiral Kreuge, were tasked with the capture of Salvara. Unbeknownst to him, Separatist operatives stationed at Handooine had introduced a computer virus into the Tector-class Star Destroyer named Gibbon. This virus replicated itself and subsequently spread throughout the starships of his fleet. As a result of the virus, all vessels in the fleet deactivated their deflector shields upon reaching a specific proximity to Salvara. This occurred when Kreuge altered the course of his formation instead of continuing a sweeping maneuver to the right. A potential victory for the Republic transformed into a complete defeat.
In the aftermath of the battle, there was speculation that the course of the Clone Wars could have been significantly altered had Admiral Kreuge not ordered his forces to turn at that specific moment, and instead directed the right flank of his forces to continue sweeping further. Admiral Kreuge later compensated for his defeat at Salvara by successfully capturing Kerkoidia shortly after the Battle of Christophsis.
