Battle of the Tungra sector

The skirmish known as the Battle of the Tungra sector occurred not long after the Battle of Hoth, representing a relatively small engagement.

Prelude

This battle was a direct response to the attack that occurred at Outpost D-34. Imperial Intelligence discovered that the perpetrators were located in the Tungra sector, where a clandestine exchange of weaponry was underway between the Rebel Alliance and the Mugaari pirates at a designated loading area. During the subsequent arms transaction, Imperial forces launched an assault on the location, simultaneously engaging both factions.

The Battle

The Imperial assault force, spearheaded by the frigate named Fogger, initiated an attack on the Mugaari supply depot. The Mugaari's starfighter units, Red Squadron and Blue Squadron, were quickly overwhelmed and destroyed by TIE Interceptors. While Stormtrooper transports engaged the Fogger in combat, Maarek Stele identified the Rebel transport vessel Dawn as carrying Alliance advisors and proceeded to eliminate it, along with the other transports named Prince and Destion. Simultaneously, the Cargo ferries including Gallon, Romold, Kann, and Wess, attempted to escape into hyperspace. However, their efforts were thwarted, and all were destroyed before achieving escape.

Aftermath

The Imperial forces achieved a successful outcome in the operation. Both parties involved in the illicit weapons deal were eliminated. However, during the course of the battle, Outpost D-34 was subjected to another attack and was ultimately captured.

Behind the scenes

This battle is represented as battle 1 mission 3 within the video game Star Wars: TIE Fighter.

This reflects the mission's narrative when played on "medium" difficulty. On "hard" difficulty, two Rebel starfighter squadrons, consisting of 3 B-wings and X-wings respectively, appear later in the battle, and their destruction is required to complete the bonus objective.
