The struggle that unfolded on the Devastation represented a conflict between the forces of the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems.
The Nightsisters and the Confederacy of Independent Systems collaborated to construct the Subjugator-class heavy cruiser named the Devastation. The Jedi were unaware of this undertaking until R2-D2 and C-3PO inadvertently obtained this information from a CIS computer system. Subsequently, Yoda dispatched Jedi warriors Ahsoka Tano, Plo Koon, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Kit Fisto, Anakin Skywalker, and Mace Windu with the mission to prevent the vessel from destroying Dathomir. However, prior to the confrontation, Sai Sircu ultimately committed treason against the Confederacy, altering the ship's programmed destination from Dathomir to Coruscant.
Ahsoka and Plo Koon initiated the boarding action, immediately facing an assault from numerous droids. After navigating through several entryways, they found themselves in a corridor lined with cannons operated by droids. Proceeding to a lower level, they discovered that the Hyperdrive had been engaged, indicating the ship's arrival at its designated location. Rapidly advancing through a reinforced door, they reached a control center, only to be confronted by Asajj Ventress, who challenged the Jedi to a lightsaber duel. However, recognizing the paramount importance of safeguarding Coruscant over defeating Ventress, Ahsoka sabotaged the control systems. Acknowledging her setback, Ventress retreated from the engagement. Shortly afterward, Obi-Wan and Kit Fisto successfully landed on the vessel. They, too, encountered resistance from a multitude of droids before passing through another portal. After traversing a series of passages, the two Jedi located a reactor within the ship. They proceeded to overload it, taking precautions to avoid detection by the Camera droids present in the area. Upon the reactor's overload, the Camera droids, along with the Jedi, sought cover, and a significant breach was created in the wall due to the resulting explosion. Subsequently, Obi-Wan and Kit Fisto advanced to another command center, where they engaged Count Dooku. However, Obi-Wan disabled the backup controls while the Nautolan battled the Sith lord. Following their triumph, Sai Sircu entered the chamber and employed the Force to incapacitate Obi-Wan and Kit Fisto. Dooku then escaped. Finally, Mace Windu and Anakin landed, encountering droids in a manner similar to their Jedi counterparts. Shortly thereafter, the two Jedi confronted Sai Sircu and eliminated her.
Once all the Jedi had evacuated the ship, the Republic deployed several Jedi bombers to bombard the vessel. On a nearby ship, Ros Lai, a former Nightsister, observed the remnants of the Devastation drifting past.
