Beed Thane, holding the position of archon for the planet called Vergill, belonged to the Hapes Consortium. After Ambassador Leia Organa Solo tried to convince the Hapans to aid the New Republic in their conflict with the Yuuzhan Vong, he directed insults towards her. This angered Prince Isolder, leading him to challenge and ultimately win against Thane in an honor duel. As a result of his defeat in the duel, Thane was compelled to commit his planet to supporting the war effort.
