The Begali Uprising, alternatively referred to as the Bengali Uprising, was a revolt initiated in the year 1154 BBY by the world Begali versus the Echani Command. This command was the governing female council of a six-planet confederation, the Six Sisters, primarily populated by Echani. The Thyrsians, an Echani subspecies originating from Thyrsus, another of the Six Sisters planets, allied with Begali in this rebellion.
Although the uprising officially concluded when Begali returned to the Six Sisters before century's end, the animosity between the Thyrsians and the Echani Command persisted. This tension lasted until the Pact of Almera in 899 BBY, which formally acknowledged Thyrsian sovereignty.
The Begali Uprising's most notable legacy is its introduction of force pikes as weapons in galactic combat.
