Belarus-class medium cruiser
The Belarus-class medium cruiser represents one of the initial starship blueprints sanctioned by the New Republic, with its manufacturing run being relatively small.
History
Initially conceived by the Loronar Corporation, the Belarus-class aimed to be an advancement upon their widely recognized Strike-class cruiser. The New Republic expedited its entry into production. The design changes included decreasing the number of turbolaser batteries and standardizing a singular modular build. While it presented a slight improvement in crew efficiency, it sacrificed some flexibility in modular applications. Despite its lineage tracing back to the Strike-class cruiser, the Belarus design lacked the uniformity of its predecessor. Belarus-class vessels typically operated in linear formations, with less formidable ships protecting the front and back ends of the fleet formation. Some of these cruisers were assigned to protect Mon Calamari towards the conclusion of the Yuuzhan Vong War.
