Belgaroth

Belgaroth, a planetary body, existed within the Core Worlds sector of the galaxy, and was situated in proximity to the Rimma Trade Route. The Galactic Empire utilized this planet as a proving ground for innovative armaments and tactical exercises. Furthermore, it served as the homeworld for the droidbreaker species, imposing beings that consumed plasteel and refined metallic substances. This world is detailed further here.

Description

Belgaroth's surface was mostly covered by scrapyards

The planet's terrain primarily consisted of craggy, harsh mountains, interspersed with occasional hills, plains, and valleys. The water bodies, functioning as oceans, were two expansive seas characterized by a turbid, mustard-brown hue, resulting from substantial mineral sedimentation. The world featured a single urban center, Belgar, and several extensive junkyards. Astronomically, the planet revolved around a binary star system. Matanya A was an orange-colored star, while Matanya B was a smaller star emitting yellow light. Belgaroth was orbited by two moons, named Tregan and Tyrel. A minor repair facility, scarcely capable of accommodating an Imperial-class Star Destroyer, was the only other satellite of note.

History

Six centuries prior to the establishment of the Galactic Empire, Belgaroth was discovered and subsequently colonized by a pair of independent explorers. These individuals, Belgar Overlord and Roth Skimm, named the world and endeavored to transform it into a thriving transit hub and commercial center. During the period of the Clone Wars, a Republic affiliated factory operated by Czerka Arms was situated on the planet. The personnel at this facility covertly manufactured illicit chemical weapons for the InterGalactic Banking Clan and their Separatist allies. A team of clone trooper scouts uncovered this operation, with the majority of them perishing in their attempts to deliver this intelligence to the Republic. The lone survivor, Marrt, destroyed the factory and transmitted the information he had gathered, which implicated two senators in the illicit dealings.

The planet's environment suffered extensive damage during the Imperial Period. Upon the Empire's ascension to power, the Naval Department determined the need for an insignificant planet on which to conduct weapons testing and training exercises; Belgaroth was selected for this purpose.

Following the Battle of Endor in 4 ABY, Belgaroth became the primary fortress world for Zero Command, an Imperial faction founded by Lord High Admiral Blitzer Harrsk. When the New Republic fleet advanced on Belgaroth in 5 ABY, Harrsk was compelled to abandon the portion of Zero Command situated within the Core Worlds, including Belgaroth, and retreat to the Deep Core.
