The Black Forest, situated on Kashyyyk, was a forest that had perished thousands of years prior to 5 ABY. The indigenous Wookiees were under the impression that the area had been tainted by a certain darkness, with some even thinking that the Black Forest was under a curse and inhabited by malevolent entities. The wreckage of the prison ship named Ashmead's Lock was found at that location.
