Blandings, an engineer by trade, was a man employed by the Galactic Empire during the era of the Galactic Civil War.
During 1 BBY, Blandings was stationed on the Imperial prison barge known as the Purge. As the Purge was traveling towards the detainment moon Gradient Seven, it suffered a malfunction. A team, including Blandings, was chosen to board a derelict Star Destroyer in close proximity to the Purge, with the goal of finding components to fix the prison barge. Jareth Sartoris led this team, which accessed the Star Destroyer via a docking shaft. The team then divided, with Sartoris, Blandings, Imperial Corrections Officers Austin and Vesek, and the engineer Greeley heading to the Star Destroyer's maintenance level where they located some required parts. Upon their return to the Purge, Blandings, along with everyone else in the party except for Sartoris, died after becoming infected with a virus encountered on the Star Destroyer.
