Blaster muskets, a variant of the blaster pistol, saw use by the Shistavanen pirate known as Brutus in the New Republic Era. The Captain, Brutus, found himself apprehended circa 9 ABY. He was in possession of a blaster musket when the Onyx Cinder's Cargo-lifting arm seized him near its landing ramp, following the tractored capture of his ship within the docking bay of his frigate. Subsequent to being grasped by the lift arm, he discharged one shot before relinquishing the weapon. Silvo, the previous pirate captain, retrieved Brutus' dropped blaster musket as he neared the incapacitated pirate. In retaliation for a past betrayal, Silvo used the blaster musket to eliminate Brutus with a single shot, thereby regaining control of his pirate band.
The existence of blaster muskets was initially revealed through the audio descriptions provided by Disney+ for "We're Gonna Be In So Much Trouble," the seventh installment of the live-action program Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, which premiered on January 7, 2025.
