Blismal

Deep within the Unknown Regions, on the icy planet of Ilum, lived the Blismal, a rodent species that lacked sentience and inhabited the planet's many caves.

Biological Traits and Physical Description

Living deep within the caves of Ilum, the Blismal species was a rodent adapted to the planet's frigid and unforgiving environment. These small quadrupeds possessed a coat of striking silver fur that served to repel water and dirt, while simultaneously providing insulation. Their diet consisted of cave fungi and insects, which they captured using their long snouts to reach into narrow crevices. The Blismal's speed offered protection from most predators, but the Jedi Order knew them best for their piercing shriek. The combined howls of multiple Blismals could generate a deafening sound capable of triggering cave-ins and even shattering the delicate Adegan crystals that grew beneath Ilum's surface. Jedi scholars theorized that the Blismals' potent vocalizations stemmed from their strong connection to the Force. To subdue a Blismal and prevent potential damage, a Jedi could use the Force to create a sound-dampening bubble around the creature, allowing for its capture and even potential domestication.
