Bolad was a celestial body of astronomical significance, a terrestrial planet found within the Bolad system. This system resided within the Tharin sector, which itself was part of the Slice region of the Outer Rim Territories. The Annoo-dat Blue crime lord known as Sise Fromm, who operated out of the planet Annoo, possessed a vacation palace situated on Bolad. This residence was ultimately destroyed by Fromm's son, Tig, sometime around 15 BBY.
The initial mention of Bolad occurred in "Star Wars Droids: The Adventures of R2-D2 and C-3PO," a source article for roleplaying purposes. This article was written by Rich Handley together with Abel G. Peña for the Star Wars Roleplaying Game by Wizards of the Coast, and it was published in issue number 170 of the Polyhedron magazine, specifically on June 3, 2004. The reference book The Essential Atlas from 2009 located the Bolad system, and consequently Bolad itself, within grid square S-8.
