Bombard fleet

A bombard fleet, under the leadership of a fleet admiral, represented a specialized unit within the Imperial Navy. This fleet configuration included a pair of system bombards, along with two force escorts, one force technical services vessel, and one [force support](/article/force_support] ship, resulting in a typical complement of 416 starships. The Galactic Empire dispatched bombard fleets to sectors where the perceived level of Alliance to Restore the Republic resistance was deemed insufficient. These fleets were employed when the Empire prioritized planetary annihilation over the possibility of the planet falling under Alliance control.
