The Shalam bombardment was executed by Imperial Grand Admiral Ishin-Il-Raz sometime between 2 BBY and 4 ABY, the year of the Battle of Endor. This assault happened on the planet Shalam, located within the Inner Rim, and it was a component of Il-Raz's efforts to gain favor with the Galactic Emperor Palpatine. Other actions, such as the Massacre of Myomar, were also part of this effort. Il-Raz commanded the bombardment from the bridge of his Star Destroyer, the Emperor's Disciple, and it resulted in an Imperial victory.
The initial mention of the Shalam bombardment occurred within the article "Who's Who: Imperial Grand Admirals," penned by Daniel Wallace and Abel G. Peña, and featured in Star Wars Insider 66 during 2003.
