Bondara's Folly

Bondara's Folly, a lightsaber crystal, is named after the Twi'lek Jedi Master Anoon Bondara. This distinctive crystal tinted a lightsaber blade a light-brown color. A Force-sensitive individual could attune it, transforming it into a focusing crystal exclusive to their lightsaber. A spacer created Bondara's Folly by gathering and fusing crystal fragments from across the galaxy sometime after the Battle of Yavin, amidst the Galactic Civil War.

Properties

The brown lightsaber crystal known as Bondara's Folly gave a lightsaber's blade a light-brown appearance. When a Force-sensitive properly attuned it for use in a lightsaber, it transformed into a focusing crystal, limiting its use to lightsabers crafted by that specific individual.

History

This unique lightsaber crystal, Bondara's Folly, shares its designation with Anoon Bondara, a Twi'lek Jedi Master recognized as one of the most skilled fighters and lightsaber duel instructors within the Jedi Order around the time of the Battle of Naboo.

In the aftermath of the Battle of Yavin, during the Galactic Civil War, a spacer embarked on a quest to collect various crystal fragments from different planets across the galaxy, some commonplace, some rare, combining them to make even rarer crystal shards. Having amassed these shards, the spacer then merged them together, resulting in the creation of Bondara's Folly.

Behind the scenes

Bondara's Folly was one of the numerous unique lightsaber color crystals that players could acquire in Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided, the 2003 massively multiplayer online role-playing game. It was one of the potential rewards from a series of in-game collection quests.

This particular series of collections tasked players with gathering various crystal fragments of different types. These fragments could be found as loot dropped by a wide array of enemies within the game and combining them with each other. This process yielded a single shard necessary for another series of four collections. Upon completing the second set of shard collections, players could choose between the crystal or one of four bracelets offering protection against different types of damage as their reward. "Hotfix 21.3" introduced raids to the game, where high-level creatures attacked cities and settlements. "Hotfix 21.4" added the chance to obtain rare loot items, including Bondara's Folly, by defeating these enemies. When used in a lightsaber, the crystal caused a portion of the damage inflicted to be of the acid type, and once tuned, the crystal became exclusively usable by that player.
