Bordal, a planet situated within the Taroon system, resided in the Outer Rim. It was one of the two planets in the system that could support life, and Humans were its main population.
Back in 214 BBY, Bordal experienced an epidemic of the plague-like illness known as the Bordal Contagion. The Galactic Republic created an antidote on Tauber, another planet, and started sending it via the planet Kabal. However, these shipments never arrived because the Fujari pirates attacked the transports carrying the antidote, destroying six million doses. The Republic did nothing to punish the Fujari, leading to the deaths of millions of Bordali until Rseikharhl, a nearby planet, started producing the antidote for them.
Bordal belonged to both the Galactic Republic and, subsequently, the Galactic Empire. In 20 BBY, it was still engaged in a war that had lasted for decades with its neighbor Kuan, even though the initial reason for the conflict had been forgotten. The Bordali economy had collapsed, and the planet's government had imposed martial law.
