Tauber

Tauber, a world within the Inner Rim, was situated along the Rimma Trade Route super-hyperroute. The creation of an antidote for the Bordal Contagion occurred on Tauber in 214 BBY. Two centuries following that, the A4 laboratory assistant droid known as EV-A4-D commenced his service at a hospital on Tauber, and by 2 ABY, the Neuro-Saav Corporation operated material-design laboratories there. Both Doctor Cinto Alaras and Sommen, an undercover Agent for the Rebel Alliance, were employed at Neuro-Saav's facilities.

Description

Within the Tauber system of the Jaso sector resided Tauber, a terrestrial world. This sector was a part of the Trailing Sectors region within the Inner Rim, recognized as one of the most significant galactic hubs for medicine. The Rimma Trade Route super-hyperroute provided a connection for Tauber to both the Polith and Yag'Dhul systems.

History

EV-A4-D began his service at a hospital on Tauber.

When the Bordal Contagion emerged in the Outer Rim Territories' Rseik sector during 214 BBY, researchers of the Galactic Republic located on Tauber developed an antidote to combat the ailment. Subsequently, a minimum of 6 million doses were dispatched to Kabal, an Outer Rim planet, to facilitate transportation onward to the Rseik sector. Firmus Kett, a captain in the Trade Defense Force, later referenced Tauber's contribution in his memoirs.

By 22 BBY, Tauber housed a hospital. The facility had Human doctors among its employees, along with a team of droids. EV-A4-D, the MerenData A4 laboratory assistant droid, commenced his operational life as a supervisor droid within the hospital. EV-A4-D significantly boosted the efficiency of the medcenter's droids. However, his methods unsettled the doctors, and after he instructed the mechanical staff to perform operations on patients without administering painkillers, he was returned to the company that manufactured him.

The Galactic Empire had a presence on Tauber by 2 ABY, represented by a local prefect. At that time, Cinto Alaras, a Human male Doctor, functioned as a designer and medical consultant at the Neuro-Saav Corporation facilities situated on the planet, alongside Sommen, an undercover Agent for the Rebel Alliance. The Task Force on Alliance Security of the Rebel Alliance indicated in a report that Alaras might potentially uncover Sommen's true objective due to their proximity at work, thus classifying Alaras' presence on Tauber as a possible threat to the Alliance.

Locations

A major hospital was in operation on Tauber by 22 BBY, staffed by Human doctors and medical droids. Twenty-four years afterwards, Neuro-Saav Corporation managed material-design facilities on Tauber, which encompassed laboratories and offices populated by various designers.

Behind the scenes

The sourcebook Alliance Intelligence Reports, published in 1995 for West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game, provided the initial mention of Tauber. The 2009 reference book, The Essential Atlas, positioned the Tauber system, and consequently Tauber itself, within grid square L-14.
