Holopuck
aliases:
- Bounty puck
Holopucks, also called holographic pucks, data pucks, or sometimes bounty pucks, were compact holographic devices. The Bounty Hunters' Guild used these devices to provide identifying information about a target.
Description

These pucks displayed a holographic image of the person being hunted, along with the word "WANTED" written in Aurebesh. They also included bounty details: the credit reward, the reasons for the bounty (i.e., the crimes committed), the allowed area of operation for the hunt, and the requirements for claiming the reward. When combined with a tracking fob, the information on a puck empowered Guild members to chase their targets across vast distances in the galaxy.
History
The Galactic Empire used holopucks carried by Clone X troopers to maintain a highly secured register of targets.
In 9 ABY, the Guild operating on Nevarro distributed holopucks to its bounty hunters. Accepting a puck signified acceptance of the bounty.
Behind the scenes
Holopucks made their debut in Chapter 1 of The Mandalorian, a Disney+ television series from 2019 that premiered on November 12, 2019. The term "holopuck" was officially confirmed in its Databank entry on StarWars.com.
