Boyrake served as an officer within the Imperial Naval forces of the Galactic Empire throughout the Imperial Era. Not long after the Empire's formation, Boyrake enlisted in the Imperial Navy, enjoying a lengthy career spanning over two decades and ultimately achieving the rank of captain. Throughout his service, Captain Boyrake primarily engaged with space pirates, and somewhat ironically, began to develop a certain respect for them. By the time the Battle of Yavin occurred, Boyrake had retired from service due to an injury sustained in combat. After being struck on the head, Boyrake came to the conclusion that he had always wanted to become a pirate. The former Imperial Captain chose to retire on the planet Lok, where he began collecting information about the local pirate groups, particularly the Canyon Corsairs. In 1 ABY, Boyrake encountered a space traveler at the Imperial Outpost situated on Lok, and gave the location of the Canyon Corsair's Stronghold to this individual.

Boyrake functioned as a non-player character (NPC) within the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies. This game was a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts, before it was shut down on December 15, 2011. The character of Boyrake was incorporated into the game via the "Publish 1" update, which was released on August 3, 2003.
Due to how some characters were created in Galaxies, Boyrake's gender and appearance were randomly generated each time a server reset occurred. Within the game, this NPC was simply referred to as "a commoner." The name "Boyrake" was found in the "waypoint" information that was provided to the player after interacting with the NPC, which led them to the Canyon Corsair's Stronghold.
