While employed as Gasgano's mechanic, in the year 32 BBY, he privately pursued his ambition of becoming a podracer. He secretly honed his skills using the Ord Pedrovia until he believed he could compete in the Amateur circuit. Subsequently, he requested a release from his duties with Gasgano. Upon witnessing Baranta's racing talent, the Xexto granted his request and even contributed financially to Baranta's acquisition of a podracer.
After obtaining a Shelba 730 Razor podracer, Baranta adorned it with vibrant colors such as royal blue, silver and gold, thus realizing his aspiration.
His performance was notable enough to establish him as the favorite racer on the "Abyss" track located on Ord Ibanna. Despite a tendency to let anxiety affect his racing, he proved a formidable competitor, largely due to his frequent pit stops for repairs. Consequently, his repair expenses exceeded the initial cost of the podracer.
Baranta's most distinguishing characteristic was his excessive worrying. His frequent pit stops typically prevented him from achieving victory. By 32 BBY, he had only secured three wins. He was fluent in Huttese.
Baranta's Shelba 730 Razor podracer was widely regarded as one of the most visually striking and refined vehicles in the Tournaments. He took immense pride in it. While it possessed average acceleration and good responsiveness, its handling was below par. To ensure meticulous care for his podracer, he invested in a state-of-the-art repair module. Ultimately, the cost of repairs surpassed the original purchase price.
The voice of Bozzie Baranta was initially heard in the Star Wars: Episode I film novelization. His first complete appearance occurred in Star Wars Episode I: Racer, where he was voiced by Terence McGovern. Early versions of Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace featured a character known as Bozzie Barada.
