Bulwark, a planet situated within the Bulwark system of Wild Space, functioned as a safe world for the Alliance to Restore the Republic during the Galactic Civil War. This meant that individuals affiliated with the Alliance could reside there without fear of oppression from the Galactic Empire. Furthermore, the Rebel Alliance strategically positioned one of their v-150 Planet Defender ion cannons on Bulwark, making it one of the few planets to receive such a defense system.
The 1996 second edition of Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game's sourcebook, Galaxy Guide 3: The Empire Strikes Back, published by West End Games, included a mention of Bulwark. This second edition featured updated and new material by Pablo Hidalgo, building upon the original text of the sourcebook.
The Online Companion on StarWars.com for the 2009 reference work, The Essential Atlas, located the Bulwark system, and consequently the planet, within grid coordinate U-7.
