Byzal, a Human of male gender, held the rank of major within the security forces stationed on the planet of Kaon. This occurred during the Galactic War, a conflict fought between the Galactic Republic and the reconstituted Sith Empire. When the Tion Hegemony suffered a widespread outbreak of the rakghoul plague, Kaon became the fifth planet affected, and Byzal worked to uphold the quarantine. Nevertheless, soon after the arrival of off-world reinforcements, a shuttle tried to escape the quarantine, and Byzal contracted the rakghoul infection while examining the wreckage. Before long, he underwent the transformation and was subsequently killed.
The character of Major Byzal is featured in the Flashpoint titled "Kaon Under Siege." This content was incorporated into the video game Star Wars: The Old Republic through the release of Game Update 1.1.
