Cademimu V, often shortened to just Cademimu, existed as a planet situated within the Cademimu sector along the path of the Celanon Spur.
Found in the Outer Rim Territories, Cademimu V was a planet that had become a single massive city, an ecumenopolis, within the Cademimu sector. Positioned on the Celanon Spur hyperlane, it acted as a significant trade center and possessed a high degree of industrialization. Its strong military history was also a defining characteristic.
Initially, Cademimu V was settled as a minor stopping point for military patrols. The population grew rapidly after the discovery of the Celanon Spur, transforming the planet into a major trade hub. Cademimu later gained strategic value, functioning as a crucial munitions storage location for the forces of the Galactic Republic. During the Great Galactic War, its missile reserves were depleted twice, but each time they were rebuilt on a larger scale. By the time of the Cold War it had become known as "The War-Chest of the Outer Rim."
During the Cold War era, the corrupt governor of Cademimu, Chornarov, seized control of the planet with aid from the Mantellian Separatist Movement and declared its independence. This action was met with resistance from the civilian population, resulting in widespread riots. Subsequently, both the Republic and the Sith Empire dispatched strike teams to Cademimu. The Republic aimed to regain control of the missile defense system, while the Empire sought to exploit the situation for their own benefit. During the fighting, General Ortol of the Mantellians was killed, and Chornarov was removed from his position of power.
By the time of the Galactic Civil War, the Cademimu system had degenerated into a shadowport.
