Carabba, a pirate captain of the male persuasion, commanded the Blazing Claw while the Aqualish Gunda Mabin was a young cabin worker in their service. He once pressed the face of the pirate Patchwork Fiddich against a heated blaster, resulting in severe burns and scarring in a practice called the Burning. The captain would tell Mabin day after day that while she possessed a talent for locating treasure, she lacked the brutality required for bloodshed, even after her promotion to first mate. Ultimately, she killed him by stabbing him in the ribs during a conversation, causing his entrails to spill onto the deck. After his death, Mabin assumed leadership of the Blazing Claw, wearing Carabba's signature black cap. By 10 BBY, she documented him in the book later known as the Smuggler's Guide, conceding his accurate assessment of her treasure-finding abilities, but noting his flawed judgement of her potential for violence.
