Biography

In the year 1.5 ABY, a bantha was slain by Vardias Tyne, a resident of Anchorhead located on Tatooine, because it was in the act of damaging his vaporators. Unfortunately for Vardias, this act came to the attention of Brother Chonar and his Dim-U monks, who revered banthas. Consequently, they engaged the services of Rhalia Jinsari, a female Zabrak bounty hunter, to carry out the assassination of Vardias Tyne.

However, before Rhalia could arrive at the town, she met her end at the hands of a spacer who had pledged to assist Vardias. Despite this, Vardias was aware that his problems were far from resolved. He understood that Chonar and the Dim-U would simply dispatch another bounty hunter upon learning of Jinsari's fate. To placate the Dim-U, Vardias commissioned a talented artist to create a bantha statue from a piece of kiliad marble. He then entrusted the spacer, who had previously aided him, with the responsibility of delivering the bantha statue to Chonar, hoping that it would lead to forgiveness and the end of the vendetta for killing the bantha. The spacer accepted the task and set out to locate Chonar, who was situated just outside of Anchorhead. Upon receiving the statue, Chonar conveyed to the spacer that the sculpture demonstrated respect for the magnificent banthas, and assured the spacer that the Dim-U would cease their pursuit of Vardias Tyne.

Behind the scenes

Randomly generated depiction of Chonar

Brother Chonar was featured as a Non-Player Character (NPC) within the MMORPG titled Star Wars Galaxies. Players who completed a sequence of quests for Vardias Tyne in Anchorhead were required to transport a bantha statue to Chonar, who was located outside the town.

Due to the inherent nature of many older quests in Star Wars Galaxies, the species and physical appearance of Chonar were subject to change each time a player undertook this particular quest. Consequently, it is not possible to definitively ascertain Chonar's canonical species. However, the quest dialogue provided by Vardias Tyne suggested that Chonar was male. Although players had the option to forgo Vardias Tyne's quests, this article operates under the assumption of complete game completion.
