Chrysopaz

Chrysopaz was a gemstone, specifically a translucent one with a yellowish hue. The Ryn inhabitants of an unidentified planetoid located within the Corporate Sector once proposed to compensate Dexter Jettster handsomely with chrysopaz and aurodium. This offer was made after Jettster provided them with equipment that allowed them to defend against overly zealous tax collectors and their Security Police force. However, Jettster declined the gem payment, opting instead for an old Ryn method of producing Jawa juice. Han Solo once remarked that he traded his chivalrous nature for a ten-carat chrysopaz and three bottles of brandy on Commenor. This occurred when Luke Skywalker was attempting to persuade him to rescue Princess Leia Organa from the first Death Star. During the timeframe of the Galactic Civil War, the value of chrysopaz ranged from 5 to 2,000 credits for each Coruscant Standard Carat. In 11 ABY, Duchess Mistal promised a substantial reward consisting of chrysopaz and firefacet gems for the safe return of her consort, Dack. After Lando Calrissian successfully resolved the situation, he received the full reward, which was valued at over a million credits.

Behind the scenes

The word Chrysopaz is incorrectly spelled as "chrystopaz" in the gemstone chart on page 38 of Pirates & Privateers, and as "chyrstopaz" on page 164 of The Far Orbit Project supplement.
