This particular model saw production during the period of the Third Galactic War, a conflict fought between the forces of the Galactic Republic and the rebuilt Sith Empire. A sidecar could be added to it as an available option.
The initial introduction of the Meirm Cicada occurred within Game Update 7.6 of Star Wars: The Old Republic: Legacy of the Sith, which launched in December of 2024. It was provided without cost to players who maintained an active subscription between November 29, 2024, and January 4 of 2025. The design of the Meirm Cicada mount drew inspiration from Fern and KB's hoverbike, as featured in the Disney+ live-action television program Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. The Meirm Cicada holds the distinction of being the first mount in Star Wars: The Old Republic to incorporate both companion and mini-pet features.
